| Based on a conversation with Money phone support a few minutes ago, the cause does seem to be either a faulty Money Update or another Microsoft patch. FWIW, while waiting for a Microsoft solution, I've discovered that I can get around the problem by checking "I don't need to use online features ..." on the sign-in screen. Then, once inside Money 2004 Deluxe, I can get what I need from the Internet by clicking on "Internet Updates" at the lower left of the screen. Hmmm. worked for me to get the passport login working again was simply clearing my temporary internet files. Doing that also reminded me that I had this same exact issue about 2 years ago with Money 2002 and it was solved the same way. Now what I want to know is why a secure login (Passport) can be fixed by clearing a web cache. Certainly seems to highlight my belief that one should _never_ trust MS when it comes to security. LB |

| I was just looking into this problem on my own PC (only I am using Money 2003 still) and I found that if you simply disable Money Express the Passport login will work again. It's as if the money express is signed in already and it won't allow a second instance (the main Money program) to sign in as well. I tried all the other remedies out there (reregistering DLLs, deleting client.xml) and this is the only one that worked. I don't need Money Express to be running, but this would be really anoying if I did. I was planning to upgrade to 2004, but now that I know of this problem, looks like I might be heading to Quicken. Hmmm. -Bob "Brian Frost" <brianfrost[at]txucom.net> wrote in message news:<eKfcm#S7DHA.2392[at]TK2MSFTNGP11.phx.gbl> ... - quote - > Could it be the IE security patch released last week? > "Jim" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:990801c3eb44$d6fb4200$a101280a[at]phx.gbl... > > I just installed 2004 over my 2003 and now it won't > > recognize my passport password. Also: I'm not quite sure I trust a Microsoft site to keep my banking data secure. (I barely trust my bank to keep my banking data secure and they have a far better track record in the area of data security.) Trust is the big holdback for me with that particular feature. |

I just upgraded to Money 2004 from Money 2002. I never had this problem prior to the upgrade. The problem manifests itself both with Money sign-in as well as the Money Express sign-in. I'm considering dropping the Passport usage because of this. Does anyone know what it actually buys me? (Just curious ... of course I can look it up.) 'tis annoying to say the least. |
