Glad I could help. Be sure and post back questions--many new users have some
teething pains as they struggle with some of the Money concepts. There is
also a FAQ at http://www.bollar.org/msmoney that may be overwhelming but
might also give you some idea of the range of the product and expertise here
in the NG.

If you want to check out a current version, there's a time-limited demo of
M04 Deluxe at http://www.microsoft.com/money. Several disclaimers:

If you are interested in checking out the demo, make sure your hardware
meets system requirements. The only real negative I can think of from M98 to
M04 is that M04 is much more demanding in terms of performance and will look
much slower on M98 vintage hardware if it will run acceptably at all.

If you try the demo and like it, DO NOT be tempted to do the online license.
Go out and buy the CD. This newsgroup has been littered with people who
didn't and lived to regret it after a need to reload for one reason or
another.

Trying to use Money98 for the first time at this point is like discovering a
lost 1921 Model T and deciding you should take it out for a spin. There are
many better choices. (At least 11 by my count. M98 was the single buggiest
version of Money in the history of the product.)

At any rate, perhaps you should change the sign of the transfer (i.e., use a
negative number)? You are, in effect, crediting the sending account and
debiting the receiving account and you have to tell Money this. Transfer
from credit card Account A to credit card Account B is telling Money you are
charging the transaction to Account A and crediting Account B. That's not
what you want to do.

a balance from one credit card account to another, the register shows it as
a charge on the account I'm transferring from, thereby increasing the amount
I owe rather than decreasing. The account I transfer the balance to shows a
negative balance. Isn't this backward? What am I missing?

Default Money 98

I'm trying to use my Money 98 for the first time. When I try to transfer a balance from one credit card account to another, the register shows it as a charge on the account I'm transferring from, thereby increasing the amount I owe rather than decreasing. The account I transfer the balance to shows a negative balance. Isn't this backward? What am I missing?
