| I found out what's going on -- so that MS personnel can answer this in the future and to prevent anyone having headaches, here's the deal: You can enter an expire transaction along with a vest but as you exercise thos options, Money is keeping count of the number of remaining options (which is a good thing, of course). Then if you try to enter an Expire against the original security that you granted, you can only expire the number of remaining options at that point in time. Not real obvious that this is going on. Money should really come up with an error message that says "You are trying to expire more options that you have remaining on the transaction date." This probably won't be a biggie except for people trying to catch up by entering historical stock transactions into Money (which I'm doing as a Quicken converter). Hope this helps others. | Yeah, I'm trying to reproduce the whole scenario in a new file in case I can help MS debug this (being a developer myself ;-)). Anyway, I've tried the repair file steps, reinstalling, etc, etc. (the basics). It definitely something the program thinks is illegal but I'm not sure what. Could be some Money setting I have no clue about since I'm a new user. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I haven't any real idea, but have you tried changing the expire instead of > deleting it? > "Tony" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:691f01c3e499$e8ab5e60$7d02280a[at]phx.gbl... > > Ok, I've used Quicken since the dawn of time and recently > > downloaded the Money trial. | I haven't any real idea, but have you tried changing the expire instead of deleting it? | Ok, I've used Quicken since the dawn of time and recently downloaded the Money trial. I created an Employee Stock Option account and entered a grant for some shares. Money created the Vest transactions and an Expire transaction. I deleted the Expire transaction Money created since each of my Vests expires individually and I want to enter each Expire on a different date. Problem is, I try to enter the Expire transaction and I get the error listed above. I thought maybe it was just a limitation of the Trial version (number of transactions or something). So, I went out a bought a copy of Money 2004 Deluxe and to my great dismay, I get the same error! I was so hopeful that MS could do better than Intuit... please help? ;-) Frustrated after only a couple hours with Money... Tony |
