| Oh sure, you are 100% right about it. My understanding was that he was looking for a way to keep a "main" Money file on the computer, be able to use it on the laptop when away and update the "main" one when back. I was use to have a "running" copy in the partition C:/ and a Backup one in the D:/ and copying the "running" one between the desktop and the laptop but it was quite messy. | Be VERY careful with this to make sure you serialize EVERY use of the file (including MoneySide and MoneyExpress). Money provides no protection for simultaneous access to the database by two machines and can mangle your file. | Are you using XP? if yes why don't keep the Money file on the desktop, share the HD, setting Money on the laptop to use the file on the other computer but also to be available off-line so if you leave with the laptop and use the file when you reconnect all files are synchronized and updated. | I got it to work, I have the main file on my flash drive (actually no speed degregation at all) and have it back up to the drive on my desktop. I just have the flash drive in the computer I want to use and then it works flawlessly. If anybody has suggestions though, please email me. NOSPAMERScy_bear[at]msn.comNOSPAMMERS Thanks for your help. | That would work for some things I suppose but I want to have the file somewhere either on the desktop or on my flash drive and be able to access it with either computer? Will that work just to put the file like on the desktop and have money open it as a previous money file on opening money? Would that then create problems with the computer not being up-to-date with the other computer? Thanks |
