| The only way to completely delete an old payee is through archiving (which I don't recommend). -- Michael Gordon MVP "Mike G." <nospam[at]void.net> wrote in message news:%23Mr43Te3DHA.540[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... - quote - > I'm wondering if there are any consequences to deleting old payees. > As far as I can tell, a deleted payee still exists as a payee in the database > (e.g. there is still a details page showing all related transactions), but is > not shown in any payee list. | Sounds like you've got it figured out. I'd never really thought about it, but it seems an "Include on the explicit payees list" check box would make some sense--especially in a product that sprinkles "Make recurring" and "Use transaction forms" checkboxes around like snow in January in Minnesota. | I'm wondering if there are any consequences to deleting old payees. As far as I can tell, a deleted payee still exists as a payee in the database (e.g. there is still a details page showing all related transactions), but is not shown in any payee list. This can be helpful when entering new transactions - there's a smaller list of payees to wade through. It also seems that the only way to relist a payee is to add it as a new payee in the payee list display. I tried this on a test case. You have to get the spelling exactly right, and then it is properly associated with all the old transactions. Seems there should be a more robust way to relist the payee, such as providing a check box on the payee's details page. BTW, I'm using M2004. -- Mike Guttman e-mail: mguttman at yahoo dot com |
