To solve my problem with this case, this is what the second support
specialist had me do: (make sure MS Money is closed):

1. Go to My Computer > C: Drive > Documents and Settings > All Users Application Data > Microsoft > Money > 12.0 > Webcache folder
2. Right click on fipartnr.ini and rename to (with out quotes) "fipartnr
old" (not .old)
3. Next, in the same folder, locate smrtconnupdat.xml
4. Right click on the smrtconnupdat.xml file and choose Open with > Word Pad
5. Then locate the following tag: <file name="FIPARTNR.INI"
date="20040108"/6. Highlight the tag and delete the tag
7. Close out of WordPad (choose Yes to save when prompted)

9. Open Microsoft Money, then go to Tools > Internet Updates > Update Now
10. Uncheck everything EXCEPT "Get latest Money updates" and click connect

After the update was complete, my Financial Institution was put back in the
list. He said that this is a common issue when upgrading from an older
version of Money to a newer version (however, I did a clean install and
hadn't even imported my Money backup file yet).

Thanks RCM. I have contacted both my FI support and finally Microsoft Money
support. My FI says it's MS. I called MS and spent 20 minutes on hold (long
distance) waiting for the tech support guy. He spent 40 minutes with me and
we solved nothing. He too can see on his end that my institution should be
listed in my Money program since he can see it in his as well. He had me do
the following:

1. Check to see if it's in the listing, which it wasn't
2. Update Internet Services. Didn't fix it.
3. Delete Cookies from IE. Didn't fix it.
4. Delete Temporary Files from IE. Didn't fix it.
5. Delete all offline content from IE. Didn't fix it.
6. Do a Quick Repair from the File menu in Money. Didn't fix it.

Now he wants me to wait 24 hours an try an internet update again, in
thinking that their might have been some behind the scenes stuff going on
with my last update, and that it might be updated again soon and add the FI
back to my list.

If that doesn't work, he wants me to uninstall, restart and then resinstall.

If that doesn't work, he wants me to call back with my case number.

Summit Credit Union is very clearly shown on the list of financial
institutions that Money supports, ... they're shown as offering 'Direct
Services (2-Way)' in the list at

I don't have the answer, but I can relay some similar, concurrent
experience I am having: I am trying to get a GM Credit Card setup to
work in M03. The GM Card (Household Bank is the FI) says they support
direct services, ... and they further say it's Microsoft's problem they
are not on the (above mentioned) list. Microsoft support, however, says,
'yes, they're clearly not on the list, tell them they have to initiate
the process to get listed...'.

It's weird in that within my copy of M03, Household is listed (to be
correct, Household Credit Services is listed). But, (as Microsoft
confirmed), they are not listed on the FI List. So, I am seeing the
opposite from what you observe, -- a FI is listed within Money, but they
are not listed on FI list. Based on some emails from GM Card's CS, I
believe them (that they do in fact support direct services). I also
think the listing inside M03 means something, perhaps at one time GM
Card worked? I'm suspicious this inconsistency is something that fell
through the cracks, and Household really should be in the FI List. (I
have yet to email MS's response back to GM and suggest they follow
through.) What you describe is similar to my dilemma, but in reverse.
.... Although it working in M04, but not M03, adds a wrinkle.

Fresh clean reformat of Windows XP. Purchased Microsoft Money 2004 on
Saturday and installed it onto my new install of Windows XP. Flawless.

were downloaded into my check register and balanced automagically. Talk
about FREAKin cool. I'm impressed.

Monday (yesterday) I did the Internet Update option to download all Money
updates, news, and online statement information. I believe I saw a message
that came back that said that my institution no longer offers this feature.
I thought that was odd, but I was like, ok, it might be just a weird
mistake. I then went to my account, and it pulled all the transactions. No
biggie, as I will just try it again. I go to set up online services again
within Money, and this time around, the listing of Financial Institutions
that are listed in Money seems to mysteriously have removed Summit Credit
Union.

I contacted Summit Credit Union, and they have not (and don't plan on)
removed this ability for Microsoft Money 2004 and older. In fact they have a
relatively new PDF file on their website that explains how to use the direct
connect features. I'm like, ok..well while I have your attention, let me
check my system at work (i was talking to them from work this morning
online) because I use Microsoft Money 2003 here. I went to financial online
services, I found Summit Credit Union, and I was able to again, log on using
my user name and passcode and match up my accounts and download transactions
(which I didn't do because this is work, and I have work related accounts on
this machine).

So now Microsoft Money 2004 Standard at home has removed my institution as
well as it's transactions, while my work machine with Microsoft Money 2003
can find them and lists them and connects to them just fine.

Before I call support, anyone have any ideas I can take home with me?
