system directory and running msmoney.exe -s ?

It should work - the KB article on salvage
(http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;182608) doesn't
mention whether you should put the name of a Money file on the end of the
salvage command, so just try

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Msmoney.exe" -s

It will pick up the last file opened.

I am trying to run the salvage utility with the command
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\Msmoney.exe" -s <my filebut apparently Money starts without performing any repairing.

Am I doing something wrong or does the salvage utility simply not work
on localized versions of Money ?
