| I am using MS Money to download 403B transactions from Fidelity NetBenifits site. They use OFX and it works correctly for me. If you want to check your claim, you can open the ofx file in notepad or the editor of your choice and compare it against the OFX standard. I would expect that you will find that your institution does not use the method you desire. BTW - I have used this to show errors in OFX and OFC files from varrious institutions and gotten several to change their methods of building these transfer files. | Does 401K transactions download work with any other financial institution? If not, it is clear that this is MS Money problem. Also, some of the posts in this newsgroup from April, 2002 indicate that this is problem with MSMoney. | Almost year ago I paid for the product(MS Money 2003 Deluxe) that advertises support for 401K and OFX standard. It does not appear to support OFX standard correctly. I consider this misleading advertisement and will not be spending my money on 2004 version. | I have a total of 23 401k buys per month, not counting any reallocations, reinvested dividends, self-managed account activity, etc. (And not to mention the IRAs and the other automagic investments.) I must just not find it as cumbersome, time consuming, or error prone as you do. Of course, I have the bulk of the work setup as recurring scheduled transactions. | I wouldn't lobby for not entering transactions for the reasons you cite. | Sorry, I forgot to reply to original question about "entering few transactions by hand". Yes, I find "entering by hand" cumbersome, time consuming, and error prone when you have to enter 30 transactions every month. | If you don't enter individual transactions, don't you get incorrect results(like capital gains, return values, etc...) on various performance related reports. You can't record the cost of individual buys. | Why you would switch to Q instead of just entering a few transactions by hand, if you want them in there so badly, is a mystery to me. How hard is it to enter transactions? Harder than moving your Money data to Quicken? (I bet not.) I don't download anything but quotes. I have every buy in my 401ks. But, if you must, be our guest: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...7&loc=105&sp=1. | According to Vanguard help FAQ, "Microsoft has chosen to implement 401(k) and similar employer-sponsored retirement accounts by providing only the account's holdings in the Microsoft Money account. When you download and import an OFX file for an employer plan account from Vanguard, Money will update your holdings using "Add Shares" or "Remove Shares" transactions as appropriate, but the actual transactions that were performed within your account will not appear in your Money register." Does anyone know if Money 2004 have the same problem. I have been MSMoney user for almost 10 years, but this may force me to switch to Quicken. Thanks. |
