I have it prompt me too. That way I can skip the backup if there is
not enough new stuff to bother with.

Archiving will remove non-investment transactions older than a
certain date. But the improvement in speed is usually reported to be
minimal.

Amortized loans and processing bills/deposits have been suggested as
things that can slow things down. You might try an experiment where
you delete some of those things in a COPY of your file.

Thanks Cal,

I don't use the passport but will try the encrypt thing if I can figure out
how. I have it prompt me to backup. Any other suggestions?

Is there a way to copy part of the transactions to a different file to make
the file size smaller. Does a large file slow it down?

For start, you might try removing your passport if you don't need
background banking. For closing, you could tell Money to not encrypt
your hard drive backup file, or maybe even to not always
automatically backup.

See FAQ available at http://www.bollar.org/msmoney/ for more
information on speeding things up, but those are not aimed at start
and exit.

Default startup

I am using Money 2003 on XP Home with 1.2GB mem and 2.4 GHZ Pentium 4
processor. It is slow to startup and shut down. Any ideas how to speed it
up?
