Of course. I want to clarify my comment. If I archive, transactions will be inserted by Money to keep the balances the same initially. If I then delete these or other transactions, that will affect the balance. |

Your current file BECOMES the archive file. NOTHING is moved to the archive> transactions are moved to the archive, and removed from > your current file. file. - quote - > the balance stays accurate.
The "balance" is now your archive file. It is accurate to the point in timethat you archived. Problem is you are not intending to work with this archive file in the future. This makes the current file - quote - > much smaller and easier to manage.
Oh yes, the current file is then smaller. But it is unbalanced and THAT is what> painless and useful feature of Money you have to work with in the future. Good luck to ANYONE who uses this broken feature of Money called archive. Steve |

| Please read up and understand archiving before you do it and have to come back in panic over the side effects and how it really works vs. what you expected before you did it. Numerous posts in the NG deal with these issues. I do not recommend archiving. reconciled transactions for a date range. the old> question can I delete the tranactions from my register > when they file is created? and will this affect my balance > on the register. > Thanks > Jer > . There are choices when you archive... I select only the transactions are moved to the archive, and removed from your current file. You don't delete anything manually. the balance stays accurate. This makes the current file much smaller and easier to manage. painless and useful feature of Money |

Yes. Of course.> when they file is created? and will this affect my balance > on the register. archive There have been some relevant postings in the group you should find useful. I suggest you go to http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search to find recent postings on the subject. Enter the above word into the words box, and microsoft.public.money into the Newsgroup box. Sort by Date usually. |
