| Retired Coalminer, Thanks much! It worked . . sort of. I had previously run the file repair utility that shipped with M04 with no success. Following your suggestion, I downloaded the Super Salvage Utility from MS, but didn't think there was any point running when I saw it saw it had an earlier file creation date than the M04 version. Anyway, after that I tried your other suggestion about creating new Fidelity accounts in the same file, but that didn't work either. I almost gave up at that point, but decided to give the downloaded super salvage utility a chance. BINGO, it found something wrong [Warning: broken records in system table.] and presumably fixed it because now I can update all the Fidelity accounts - old and new. My wife was incredulous when I told her how a total stranger had put a good bit of effort into helping me without asking for anything. She thought I ought to promise to name our first born after you - not an easy thing to do at our age - but I could make a donation to a charity of your choice. Thanks again. -- That is all. | Now that you know the cause of the problem, I'd suggest you do the following: Create a new account in your original Money file. Transfer all account entries, details below, from the 'broken' fidelity account to the 'new' fidelity account. Add Online Services for the new Fidelity account, and sync and download as much account information as you can get. Then rename, or disable, the old fidelity account in case you need to refer to it. Of course make a copy of the original Money file beforehand in case you need to refer to it. Per the following KB article, you can transfer all of the transactions in an investment account to another account. Note the differences in tracking correct investment history vs tracking ownership history. I don't really need the screen shots. Now that you know the problem is in the money file, maybe the money super salvage utility will clean it up. Forgot to list that in previous posts, search this group or MS KB for details, it's mentioned and used a lot. By the way, I was searching through this group recently, and I saw your name on some old issues with setting up / syncing to Fidelity in an old version of Money, 98 or 99, pre OFX. If you followed the instructions there, I'll guess that the process of spoofing a branding server via using a local configuration file percipitated the problem, and when you upgraded to M04, some settings for the Fidelity accounts persisted or didn't convert cleanly. If after the super salvage utility the account is still hosed up, send a report to Microsoft, explain your workaround, etc. wrote: - quote - > Retired Coalminer, > The new file was created smoothly. | Retired Coalminer, The new file was created smoothly. Ditto for setting up Fidelity accounts and downloading from Fidelity. Online Services Manager is working. Specifically, Modify Services is a working option in the "To Do" column whereas in the old file, Update Services preceded by an exclamation point is the nonworking option. I don't know if this group allows binaries but in case it does, I'll follow-up with screen shots showing what I mean. -- That is all. | Justin, If there's any remnant of anything that is causing problems, I would expect it to be in the Money file, not in the registry. Try the 'new, clean Money file, then connect to Fidelity' approach, and post back how that works. Also, just because everything else works behind behind a router and ZoneAlarm doesn't mean all connections will. Do try without ZoenAlarm. Search the Money MS knowledge base atticles for zonealarm and or firewall. and there are some things mentioned. Justin Emalius wrote: - quote - > Replies in-line |

| I'm not sure from your replies if you did the disable/re-enable, or if you are questioning how to do it. If you haven't, use the modify option and disable services for Fidelity. Then follow through to reenable. A detailed instruction on how to disable online services is here: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;175728 If you did disable, and re-enable, can you verify you were prompted for a user id and a password? And does that same username and password work on Fidelity's website? I'm at the point of only being able to repeat what I see in the FAQs and on the MS knowledge base. So, look into each of the following one at a time: - Try disabling all firewall software you may be running. Note that there may be firewall logic in a home router, so perhaps try this from a dialup line, or something different from your usual internet connection. - Try emptying out the Temporary Internet file cache in your IE browser. - Save your existing Money file somewhere, and come back to it later. Setup an all new money file, clean and from scratch in Money 2004. Create just one account in it, for Fidelity. Then see if you can connect to Fidelity online services thay way, follow the instructions for online setup. You said you upgraded from Money 99 to M04, ... M99 used a different protocol for online than M04 does, OFX didn't exist in 99, so maybe there's something that's lingering around from M99 in the new M04 file that is causing problems. I once read that if you inadvertently setup online services for the wrong bank, the URLs for the previous institution remain somewhere. Eliminate that possibility. - Once you have online services setup for Fidelity, even though you are getting an error, (as I believe you said you now do), you can create and save a log of the call details. You'll need to download a parser from Microsoft and see if anything is flagged as an error. If all else fails and you get to this point, reply and I'll see if I can explain how to do all this. I wouldn't suggest you get your hopes up for this solution, as interpreting this is the work of people with experience in OFX transactions (i.e., not me), such as tech support at Fidelity. If none of this works, ... reply back and perhaps someone can think of something else. Good luck. | Whan you say you can get into the fidelity web site, you do mean you get into fidelity from the same computer on which you are using Money? This verifies internet connectivity. Since you don't get a user name/id prompt, I'd suggest you get to the Online Services Manager screen, and disable online services for all your Fidelity account(s), and then start over. You'll not lose any account entries. Follow the instructions for setting up online services for any one of your fidelity accounts. Verify that when you get to the list where you select a financial instution (at the top of the list box there appears the title "Confirm financial institution" ), you choose "Fidelity Investments" Note that I am speaking from using Money 2003. You are using the US version of Money, correct? | I just upgraded Money 99 with Money 2004 Deluxe, in part because it stopped updating my Fidelity accounts some months ago. I was told then MS no longer supported Money 99 and I should upgrade. Anyway, with the new Money 2004 install, Online Services Manager indicates Fidelity Investments needs to be updated. After going through the motions of updating, the system indicates update for OFX02051 was successful and directs me to read a message from OFX02051 it. That message starts with one of those nerve jarring Windows "you made a mistake" sounds and says "C:\microsoft money\system\bds\USAFidelity Distributors Corporation\Info.htm" cannot be opened. Online Services Manager still shows Fidelity needs to be updates. Attempts to update my Fidelity accounts fail even though accounts with another brokerage are updated.
