Peter, like you I noted the warning message and carried on installing.
Again, like you I have had no problems.

Don't forget that you only see the posts here from people who have hit
trouble. There is a very large silent majority who have no problems!

Am I one of the lucky ones. I was running MS Money 2003 and decided just to
have a look at MS 2004. To my horror the prog. started to install, I thought
what the hell and let it continue to install. Since the installation I have
no problems what so ever. I was and am still running ZoneAlarm & NV
Antivirus & Firewalls.

I concur. In addition, is Norton AV also a firewall now????????? I
don't really know, and I have not researched it. But people normally
suggest not running two software firewalls at the same time.

I would go a step further and completely uninstall Zonealarm and AV
(disconnect from Internet!). Then reboot, then install Money, then reinstall
ZA and AV and only then reconnect to the internet.

Default installing money 2004

I got the same problem.
However, after making a clean reboot, the installer still
detects antivirus and ZoneAlarm and then failed.
When I ignore the warning and continued the installation,
nothing happened, it seems that the product is installed
correctly
But I cannot start Money. It pops up "MS Money
encountered a problem and needs to close..."

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;310353
describes selective startup or clean boot. It is referenced by
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310560
which describes "How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility
in Windows XP". Perhaps with those you can install without the
problem.

I would disconnect from the internet, do a clean boot, install
Money, and then do a regular reboot.
