| Debts should show up in the debt section. In general, however, the principal portion of your payments isn't a budgeted expense since you spent that money a long time ago. (E.g., when you bought a $200,000 house with a $180,000 mortgage, you spent $200,000 on the house and added a $180,000 liability of help you pay for it.) The budget is trying to help you manage whether you are getting richer or poorer, not how much money you have in each pile (Forecast Cash Flow). | I am in the process of setting up a budget for the new year (can you say New Year's resolution?). I noticed that several of my normal expenditures weren't listed when automatically generating the expenses. Here's the issue...I have an account set up for my mortgage. When I make a mortgage payment from my checking account, the category for that transaction is "Transfer to <mortgage account> ". I don't categorize anything as Bills:Mortgage Payment, etc. So, how do I include my mortgage (and car payments, etc) in my budget so that Money will automatically update my budget with the correct figures? Thanks a bunch! Brian |
