Thanks Cal,
I did just update to IE6 and OE etc. I then installed Money2004 Deluxe ,
expecting to find a lot of changes since m2001. Nope, although : since they
have more info along the top, I can no longer see my entire portfolio
onscreen at once, I have to scroll. Hopefully I can tweak that to remove the
dropdowns from view and get that space back.

Re: ie5.5 vs Ie 6 ....
I thought that since ie6 has more scripting capabilities, THAT's why it's
getting more hackers/security breaches.
Anyhow I installed IE6 and then all the WindowsUpdate security updates prior
to the install.

In M2001, I do use MSN Money for online research. I don't need online
portfolio access etc
What are the good new features / benefits of M2004 that you folks find
useful ?
(Glad there was a $20 rebate in there too !)

Yeah, I have the box checked to flush it when I close IE and I have a
shortcut on the desktop to flush the cookies every few days.

Thanks and happy new year

No.

I was thinking the same, but I find IE 6 better. There is cookie
control which 5.5 did not have.

I suggest you flush your browser cache initially, and reduce the
size from the default.

They install Flash for use within Money. I did succeed in disabling
Flash in regular IE use.

Pretty sure RealPlayer has settings to make sure it takes over as
the default handler. I feel RealPlayer is the more aggressive in
that when I run it, it wants to keep background code running when I
am done. It also sets up to restart that background code on each
boot. I turn that off with msconfig.

No IE6, No Money 2004.

M04 requires IE v. 6. No more, no less. It will not work with IE 5.5.

I think that any assumption that IE 6 is more "prone to
virus, spyware, hacks, bugs, crashes, etc" than IE 5.5 is wishful thinking. IE 6
has more reports of issues simply because it has a lot more usage.

Default 2004 MSMoney Install questions

I just bought Money 2004 Deluxe and as I start the install, it starts
installing IE 6.0 . I have and would like to keep IE 5.5 - any way around
this ?

IE 6 along with the additional features also seems prone to
virus,spyware,hacks,bugs,crashes,etc - I have no problems with 5.5 and
would like to stay at 5.5 .

I aborted the install, so can you tell me any other MS "updates" they want
me to install ?
I currently am still at Win Media Player 6 and want to stay there too - the
newer versions want to take over the PC. I prefer QT and Realplayer to WMP
V7 and up.

I have been using M2001 Deluxe since new and simply want MONEY 2004
Deluxe installed - that's all.
