| Say you had two investments in the same security and were figuring out your value by hand. Would you look up the exact same quote in the newspaper twice? No. Well, that's why in Money it's the same Investment. <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:07ba01c3d1fb$65286b10$a101280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > "You got a message that a symbol is already in use? > Create a security only once. Different investments do not have the same symbol. If they have the> Create a security only once. Same investment=same symbol=same name.> or is it even possible? different investments with same symbol are not possible. - quote - > I want to use the online updates to update both accounts
Everybody wants and gets that. The way they do it is to but Buy> instead of manually updating one. transactions into different accounts for the same investment using the drop-down list. If I have shares of PG in both my regular account and IRA, they are both shares of PG -- not two different securities. |

| Let me try this--Only set up an investment one time--you can place this investment in seperate accounts and money will keep all the transaction in the proper account--Click add an investment--select account--pick the investment you want to use from the drop down list--it will go in the other account with only the transactions for that account--Best to you On Sat, 3 Jan 2004 17:29:13 -0000, "Bob Peel, MVP" <Bob_Peel[at]kiandra.freeserve.co.ukNO SPAM> wrote: - quote - > Try the following http://www.bollar.org/msmoney/#Q59 > which is what Cal said to you but in different words. |

How do I use the same symbol with 2 investments accounts or is it even possible? I want to use the online updates to update both accounts instead of manually updating one. |

| I have 2 investment accounts, one is taxed and one not. I handle these as two separate accounts. I would like to update both using online updates but it will only let me place the symbol in only one account. I give me an error "symbol already exists for another account please enter a different symbol". Is there away to have two investment account with different names but the same symbol to allow both to update? At the present when I update on line one updates but have to manually enter the price change for the other. Thanks |
