You were right. With use it has now shrunk to 21 Meg

Expect the file to shrink after use for a little while. Money takes
some of the space out after the file has grown some amount. The
first time that happens to you, I suspect there will be a lot of
space removed. I know that sounds odd.

I have Money 2000 and takes up about 15 meg, I also have Quicken 99
and it takes up less space. (Under 3 meg.) Another reason to
believe that Microsoft owns lots of interests in Hard Drive
manufacturers.

And these files have no stock quotes.

Sounds about OK for that much data. It is the quotes that take the space.

Also make sure you have the Compress my file option set in Tools > Options Backup. In any case Money will decide if it needs to compress you file. You
will some times see it do that when you take a backup.

Default file size

I just converted from Quicken, Q2003 to Mny2004. I have data going
back to 1994 insofar as investment transactions and to 1999 insofar as
my check register.

The size of my Money is 41 MB. Quicken usally runs about 5-6 MB for a
file normal file this size. I have no problem with the large file but
I just wondered if it was more or less normal. I converted a quicken
file that was somehow messed up and had started growing and reached
140 MB. It was impossible to fix it with Quickens antiquated Qif file
export/import setup so I converted to Money and it converted without a
hitch and was reduced to the 41 MB size.

Thanks.
