| Thanks. I'll give that a shot and see if it cures the problem. My concern is why, after I manually correct the date to the date the check was written, Microsoft Money re-converts the date to the clearance date. I have to perform the date correction a second time to make Microsoft Money accept it. I was a former Quicken user, and the reconciliation process there fixed the date on the first manual correction. > > > Any suggestions? > Uncheck > Tools-> Options-> OnlineServices-> OverwriteTransactionDatesWithDatesFromDownloadedTr ansactions |

| Bob: Thanks for your prompt response. I'm aware the bank doesn't care about the date the check is written. I have to perform the date correction a second time to make Microsoft Money accept it. I was a former Quicken user, and the reconciliation process there fixed the date on the first manual correction. If you use downloaded information then you are stuck with whatever your bank provides on the download and that will be the cleared date. The Bank has no real interest in the date you wrote the check. When I try to reconcile my downloaded transactions in our checking account, the "matched" transaction from the bank lists the date the check in question cleared the bank, rather than the date the check was written. Because I keep track of my checks by date of writing, however, rather than by date of clearance, I then manually have to change the date for the transaction in the date field, and click "Accept." What happens, however, is that Microsoft Money then changes the date back to the clearance date. It is only by performing this date-changing step a second time that Money accepts the earlier date, i.e., the date that the check was written. I have attempted to address this by turning off the automatic reconciling. Any other suggestions? DJ |

| I realize I had left the following information out of the previous post: I am using Microsoft Money 2004 Standard Edition; the operating system is Windows XP Professional Edition. By the way, is there a better way to "update" a newsgroup post to include inadvertently deleted information? Sorry for any confusion.
