| I am having the same problems as "littlejen" and I am a Direcway user also. My install dies after I get an error message that begins with "An update has been downloaded. To activate the update follow these steps..." Then it is "unable to initialize" time again. I have cleaned Money out of the regestry so many times I can do it in my sleep! So far Microsoft technical support has been useless! | I was having the same problem with Money 2003 on Win98. I was finally successful with using MSKB art 814144. At first it did not work, in fact, several times. During reinstall, had an error pop up with msxml3.dll in the Money System Pack. Had to reinstall the msxml3.dll set, re-installed MSMoney, re-ran the regsvr32 line from MSKB 814144 and a new Money page started. Messed around quite a lot but it finally worked. | I am having the exact same problem. I have..... Reinstalled Uninstalled. Delete registry keys. Deleted all Money folders Search registery for "DirecPC" links. Nothing works. This is not cool. I have sent in the error reports. According to the details of it (can't copy), I have some errors with some Windows dll files and also msmoney.exe. So I guess this has something to do with Windows. :-| |

| I am having similar problems. I have gotten Money 2004 to run, but have to uninstall Money, then uninstall direcway reinstall money then direcway. After I did this Money 2004 launched and ran beautifully. I ran the internet updates, rebooted, and restarted money. Later on it says that it has downloaded an update and I should restart (again) Once it shows this (rebooted or not) it will no longer run. It tells me that it is "Unable to initalize a required Money component. Please reinstall Money from your original product disks." I have done this three times now and it has done the same thing over and over. | I have the same problem with M2003. It just happened. I had a lot of comments under "Money wont start" but none of the fixes worked. | I have been unable to get it to start as well. Have also tried reinstalling several times. The first message I got was about running norton antivirus software. I temporarily disabled it according to directions and tat didn't work, either. I also tried the directions for copying the contents of the cd rom to desk top and installing from there and that also didn't work. What happens with mine is that as soon as I hit the accept terms of agreement for licensing, it goes to next screen and the computer freezes up. I have installed other things today and no problem. So, I am at a loss. Don't know if it is Money problem or Norton Antivirus problem but it isn't working. Anyone want to buy the software? And, it uninstalled automatically my 1998 version of Money. So, it may be back to Quicken. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > When trying to start Money 2004, I receive the message Microsoft Money has > encountered an error and must close. If anyone has any ideas or knows a fix, please let me know. I have been using this for several months now with no problems. -- Lyle Canterbury lylekath[at]ccol.net |
