I had the same problem. Following a post after yours by dubdriver who
suggested

Try Click START > RUN > enter "regsvr32 msxml3.dll" > click OK

This fixed it for me.

Default Money won't start

I had the same problem and I can feel your frustration!!!
Here is an anser that I've reveived from Microsoft.
Elena's suggestion in Step 1 fixed my problem
immediately.
Good luck with your installation.

Martin

Microsoft's reply:
According to the case log, my understanding of the issue
is: when you try to load Money Premium 2004, the
following error message appears: Money failed to load the
answer wizard, Money Help will be unavailable. After you
receive this error message, you receive the following
error message: Money has encountered a problem and needs
to close. This problem persists after you have
reinstalled Money. If I have misunderstood, please let me
know.

In my experience, this behavior may occur under several
situations such as:

- The user profile is somewhat corrupted.
- The Aw.dll file is not registered correctly.
- The Money file is somewhat corrupted.
- Other system issue.

It may take some time for us to troubleshoot it. Your
understanding and patience is appreciated. At this time,
let's perform the steps below:

Step 1: Register Aw.dll:
======
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Copy the following command in the Open box:
Regsvr32 "c:\program files\common files\microsoft
shared\money\aw.dll"
3. Click OK.
4. Check if this problem persists.

Step 2: Create a new user account:
======
1. Click Start, and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click "User Accounts".
3. Click the "Create a new account" link.
4. Follow the instructions to create a new account with
Administrator rights.
5. Log off the current user account and then log on the
new account.
6. Check if this problem persists in the new user
account.

article below:

Answer Wizard, Money Help Will Be Unavailable

Hi Larry

Sounds like your file is corrupted. Try the following link and scroll down
to the section on "corrupted files" http://www.bollar.org/msmoney/

Default Money won't start

Yesterday when I tried to start MM, I got the following:
"Microsoft Money has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I tried to reinstall, no luck. Uninstalled the whole thing
and reinstalled, no go. Why would I get that msg? How
might get things up and running again?
