| Hi, You are not the only one. Money fails with large files, especially when they have a number of loans, it seems. It was discussed on this forum a few years ago. This might be on purpose (to force you to migrate to a more expensive program), or just bad design, and no will to improve it (Microsoft is so poor, they can't afford to debug it). I'm still with Money 99, which works at reasonable speed. When I moved to the 2000 version, I got what you describe: 30 sec. to enter a transaction. I tried 2003 and I could't even complete the upgrade of my file: it got stuck after half an hour of trying. My file is 40Meg. So my advice: stick to 1999 version if you have a large file. After all subsequent improvements are mostly gimmicks, except perhaps for the "undo" feature, which I'm missing very much. As they say: if it ain't broken, don't fix. Good luck "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:bf5j00tv5iqh4p4762gjquljclvhsiin0l[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Jo wrote: > > I've no answer, but I have the same problem. > You have Money 2003?? > > Archiving > > doesn't help and I have the same long delays, on an even > > faster computer (1.8 GHZ). | I've no answer, but I have the same problem. Archiving doesn't help and I have the same long delays, on an even faster computer (1.8 GHZ). I've been looking for an answer for several years, with no luck. Money is also the only program I seem to have this much trouble with. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I've been working in Money 2002 for several years. | I upgraded from Money 2002 to 2004 and I thought that 2002 was significantly faster than 2004. 2004 is almost unbearably slow. Whenever I go to enter a scheduled transaction right now I click enter and then go do something else like browse this newsgroup for a few minutes. It really is rediculous. | The little graphs at the bottom of register displays also slows it down a lot. Disable those to speed things up a bit. | I've been working in Money 2002 for several years. It's getting slower and slower. 10 - 20 seconds of the "hourglass" to record a payment? 30 seconds to accept a new downloaded transaction? Some entries take over 60 seconds! I might as well go back to the pencil and checkbook method! I have 851 MHz with 30 GB hard drive. I defrag once a month... It doesn't help. The most recent defrag exercise tells me I have almost 50% of the hard drive still available. I recently added 256MB to the original 128MB of RAM...no improvement. I have archived all but the last three months of records...no improvement. This can't be normal! Every other program runs fine on this computer. Am I missing something? |
