That sounds right. I can confirm that MS uses $ similarly to how
Yahoo uses ^ and some other quote services use &.

Ahh, the mysteries of high finance. What Yahoo! calls MSCI EAFE NDX
(AMEX:^EFV) Quote data by Reuters, MSN appears to call iSHARES TRUST MSCI
EAFE INDEX FUND(I $EFV.X per Comstock.

Maybe I should just use $EFV.X to get quotes through Money for what Yahoo!
calls ^EFV???

I had not even looked at what those symbols stood for stood for. I
was only commenting on the use of $ by Moneycentral.

http://www.exchangetradedfunds.com/isharesetf.html gives some clue.

I would guess EFV.X is the index and $EFV.NV is the net asset value
before some fudge factor or variable is introduced. But those are
guesses not supported by continuing research. EFA would be the
actual traded shares.

So, are you saying that $EFV.X and $EFV.NV are the MSCI EAFE index? If so,
why don't they match?

Thanks for replying. I saw those and I'm thinking they are probably "close"
but are probably funds trying to mimic the index, so will under-perform
slightly over time due to expenses.
