| Under the options for the account, is there a starting balance of 8.26? I had this same problem and was fixed by clearing this value to 0 "bcbmde" <bcbmdeat[at]yahoodot.com> wrote in message news:044401c3c7f4$f379cfa0$a001280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > I am having a similar problem. Make a copy of your Money data file. 2. Open that copy. 3. Export that account as a loose QIF file 4. Import the QIF file as a statement from my bank. I can not test this since I don't have a file with the problem, but you could perhaps. When Money 2003 or Money 2004 does an import of a QIF file as a "statement from my bank" it is pretty aggressive about looking for duplicates. |

| Ok so I still don't know what the problem was or where the error came about...but I found a poor workaround. Read the thread All Transactions Balance vs. Unreconciled Transactions Balance... '1. Make a copy of your Money data file. 2. Open that copy. 3. Delete ALL transactions in the problem account 4. Export that account as a QIF file 5. Examine the QIF file in Notepad. 6. If it is not empty and shows one or more transactions, then those are likely the culprits. 7. Note the details of those transactions 8. Open up your original file 9. Import the QIF file 10. This should reveal the hidden transactions. So you can now do with them as you wish (Delete, modify, etc).' - Mark Anyways, I couldn't find an error or a hidden transactions, but I still had an amount of $8.26 unaccounted for in an account with zero transactions and zero opening balance...someone at microsoft can't do math. So I exported the individual accounts to qif files and then imported them and no more accounting error. This error should be documented in the microsoft knowledge data base somewhere, but then again they don't admit to an error until they have a fix...which they don't have yet so...I hope no one else runs into this accounting error, and that if you do that you notice it promptly (as it can really screw you up financially). - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I am having a similar problem. | I am having a similar problem. The account register balance displays the correct amount when it is set to view 'all transactions covering all dates'. The account register balance is incorrect (off by $8.26) if set to any other time frame, or when viewing 'unreconciled' or 'unaccepted' transactions, which there are none. The account list page always shows the incorrect amount too, being off by $8.26. So according to microsoft money 2004 I can make an additional $8.26 in my account by adjusting the transaction dates or viewing unreconciled or unaccepted transactions. Wish it were true, but it's not. Any solutions as of yet? - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I am having an issue in which my account register balance > (which is correct and matches my bank balance) does not > match the balance displayed in my account list page. > Here are the symptoms: > 1) All withdrawals and deposits are reconciled (I > download all transactions daily). > 2) The account register w/ the detailed transaction data > is correct and matches the bank as well as my manual > calculations. > 3) The account list page displays is always $0.27 less > than the account register page. > 4) Only happens for one account (my checking account). > I have tried the following as troubleshooting: > 1) Uninstall and reinstall MS Money 2004 Premium > 2) Install MS Money temporarily on another computer. > 3) Made a test copy of my money file and started deleting > entries from the checking account register. | I am having an issue in which my account register balance (which is correct and matches my bank balance) does not match the balance displayed in my account list page. Here are the symptoms: 1) All withdrawals and deposits are reconciled (I download all transactions daily). 2) The account register w/ the detailed transaction data is correct and matches the bank as well as my manual calculations. 3) The account list page displays is always $0.27 less than the account register page. 4) Only happens for one account (my checking account). I have tried the following as troubleshooting: 1) Uninstall and reinstall MS Money 2004 Premium 2) Install MS Money temporarily on another computer. 3) Made a test copy of my money file and started deleting entries from the checking account register. Went back almost a full year with no change...still shows $0.27 lower than it should in the account list. I'm at a loss, anyone have some ideas? Is there a command line switch I can use to get Money to re-do all its calculations on all pages? |
