| Money 2004 does not convert Quicken 2004 files. I just tried to convert today with the lastest Money 2004 updates. I had the same problem as David. I just wasted $80 bucks on Money 2004. What's really frustrating is that nowhere does Microsoft tell you this does not work. Kay - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I see a few threads about this question. | I don't know that I'd phrase it that way--because I don't think you can just go out and buy this thing yourself--but it is also my understanding that Microsoft has subcontracted out this piece. Perhaps that's why it has so many issues for so many people? | Hi Dick I believe the converter is a 3rd party software purchased by Microsoft. At lease that is what I was told by Tech support a year ago. | David And intuit doesn't want ANY Microsoft money customers. They don't offer a converter at all. You will probably have to wait for money 2005 to convert Quicken 2004. | The last time Microsoft slipped in a newer converter for the current version of Quicken was M02, IIRC. It's not that they don't want to help or poach customers. I'm sure. It's probably more an issue of getting 90% of potential converters without having to stop work on next year's integrated Money product. When you are selling the product for less than $20 and only have 25 or 30% of the market share for a relatively small market, you can't exactly have hundreds of programmers sitting coding away trying to keep newsgroup posters happy. | I see a few threads about this question. Maybe I am weird or something, but they have been out for at least 6 months, yet there is still no 2004 converter? If this is the case, are you saying that Microsoft does not want to help people on this? Or do we need to wait for Money 2005 to get a Quicken 2004 conversion tool. Sounds interesting to me that Microsoft would not want to help convert users to their product if they have a willing customer??? So is there a tool, or documentation on how to convert the data, or do I need to wait for 2005? David - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Asked and answered repeatedly. | Hello, I tried to convert a fine working (and validated), Quicken 2004 file to Money 2004. The conversion went fine until the end, when it spit out a report. All the accounts have a $0 amount on the Money side, but the correct dollar amount on the quicken side: Account Name Quicken Balance Money Balance XYZ 0.00 0.00 Cash Account 105.12 0.00 Your Quicken file contained invalid transaction types. No data on what is invalid just many of these errors in the file. Any ideas of what I can do?? I am using the trial version. I would never buy the software if I have to enter all the data :-( Thanks, David |
