| --Hey, thanks a lot. I like the second suggestion and will go ahead and try that. I did not know Money well enough to know about the "Change" "Accept" /matching process. Much appreciated. | I don't know of any quick work around, other than to download both debits and credits for the bank account and only the debits for your Mastercard account. Then just manually edit the downloaded bank account debit, and transfer it to the Mastercard account. Alternatively you can try this: After downloading both sets of transactions (both debits and credits), Step 1. Edit the bank account debit: Right-click--> Edit Transfer to Mastercard. hit "Enter". Click "Accept" Step 2. In Mastercard account, Select the downloaded "credit". Right-click--> Change In this screen scroll down to the transaction you just transferred via Step 1. Click the control box beside this transaction. Click "Done" Click "Accept" (This tells Money to match the downloaded Mastercard transaction with the one you just entered via Step 1.) | I have a problem -- and I am the first to admit it may be with my concept or use of Money 2003. I am no accountant. Please bear with me when I explain. I have various accounts that can download from the WWW to Money, which I find very useful. I download my charge card transactions from Mastercard. I download my bank account transactions too. I pay off my Mastercard from a bank account. Now here's the problem. To properly reconcile my $$$$, and use the Money category to track it, I want to use the "Special" category "Transfer" from the bank account to the Mastercard account. However Money will only allow me to use "transfer" if Money performs the transfer as a Money transaction. But the downloading also reflects the same transfer, i.e. as a debit in the bank account, a payment in the Mastercard account. So I end up with two entries: the real-world one, downloaded from my actual accounts, and the "Transfer"-generated one, created by Money. It seems to be I should be able to properly reflect on my downloaded transactions that the "debit" from the bank account equals the "payment" in Mastercard. However to reflect the relationship, Money will only do it by generating a "duplicate" transaction -- and then my $$$$ are not correct. Any advice on how to handle this? |
