| Yes. The step you are missing is that archiving makes a new file that is a 100% copy of your existing file--they call this the archive file, and then they weed out some transactions--there are exceptions for a number of reasons--from your main file. The file that shrank is your main file post archiving. The file that still has all of the old stuff in it is the "archive" file. Archiving is pretty limited and has many more drawbacks than benefits. Many of us Just Say No. I've just said no for ten years now.
