| Hi Cal, Just a note of Thanks. Somewhere in my copying your directions and changing things on my machine, I was just able to download a file and have it work *just* like it used to before my credit union made their changes. ![]() A sidenote - I went through all of this mess with the IT people at the credit union, and they sent me a very long description of what to do to fix the problem. I followed their advice, too, and did not get the downloads working properly, again. That's when I decided to just 'suck it up' and continue doing the [time wasting, irritating] saving of files and Importing. ![]() So, I thank you, Gwen - quote - > -----Original Message----- > In microsoft.public.money, Gwen Correia wrote: > > > When you click edit the application should be > > > "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\mnyimprt.exe" % 1 > > > WITH the quotes-- unlike the others. > > > To the line - which I do not currently have copied - that > > leads to the Money file that actually runs???? > mnyimprt.exe is put on your system during the install. The %1 would refer automatically to the OFC, OFX, QIF file in question, and the file information is automatically fed by mnyimprt.exe to Money. |

That being the case, can I assume that I change this line (from your instructions): When you click edit the application should be - quote - > "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\mnyimprt.exe" %1
To the line - which I do not currently have copied - that> WITH the quotes-- unlike the others. leads to the Money file that actually runs???? And a belated Thank You for your information; I had not yet had time to sit and read the directions you'd written till now. |

OK. I am wondering what you are doing to get the file. You are not> to choose: > 'Open/work with an existing Money or Quicken file' > I chose that, and my [correct] Money file opened, but, > there is no statement waiting for me. > What can I do to put the MOney file in the right 'spot,' > so that when I attempt to download my statement from the > bank to M98, it goes where it should? doing File-> Open, are you? I didn't think so, but just checking. OK.... Consider this: Go to Windows Explorer-- NOT IE. View-> FolderOptions-> FileTypes Select Open Financial Exchange File -- OFC. Click Edit. I would check Confirm Open After Download unless you would not like to have the opportunity to save the downloaded OFC file wherever you want. Most people un-check it. Content type should be "text/ofc". Default extension should be ".ofc". See that the "Actions" box contains "Open". I would check the Always Show Extension, but you may choose not to. When you click edit the application should be "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\mnyimprt.exe" %1 WITH the quotes-- unlike the others. That assumes you have the common location for your Money stuff. In particular, make sure that it says mnyimprt.exe and not msmoney.exe. If you cannot get things to work otherwise, save the file to disk in a place you know. Then File-> Import the file. |

| Several months ago, I had a problem with Money 98s files, and, in the course of correcting that problem, I created a 'new' Money file that I worked from. Things were fine till my bank did some upgrades, and I suddenly was no longer able to directly download my statement from the bank's website to M98. I was advised, here, that I needed to save the statement as a file and Import it into Money. I began doing that, and things worked well. Yesterday, I found that someone else has had the same problem, and, that you folks have evidently found a fix for it. I followed these directions: "Close Money In Internet Explorer delete your browser temporary files with Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteFiles. In IE6, uncheck Tools-> InternetOptions-> DoNotSaveEncryptedPagesToDisk. Then open Money with Start-> Run and entering "msmoney -s" without the quotes into the box." I attempted to download my bank statement this morning and received the following error message: " 'C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content IE5 \QD8BID6P\221598[1].ofc is corrupted or is not a Money data file. Make sure you are opening a file with an MNY extension. If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed, you will need to open your most recent backup file to access your data.' I hit OK and another window opened that gave me the option to choose: 'Open/work with an existing Money or Quicken file' I chose that, and my [correct] Money file opened, but, there is no statement waiting for me. What can I do to put the MOney file in the right 'spot,' so that when I attempt to download my statement from the bank to M98, it goes where it should? Thanks, again. ~Gwen |
