Yes. If you sell a stock, the money is not given to you for three
working days. The cash account will keep that value until the money
market fund gets bought. You also use that to enter checks if your
account allows check writing etc.

Perhaps the cash transactions would be less important with IRA
accounts.

Default cash transactions designation

Is there a real reason to have the cash transaction
section in investment accounts? It seems all it does is
confuse things in my downloads. Would there be any
difference in "allowing cash transactions" in regular
investment accounts vs IRA accounts? I'm using Money 2003.
