Let salv.exe make a "fixed" version of your file and see if Money 2004 can convert that. |

| So, the application crashes while trying to upgrade the file. That's what we needed to know. Does it open the sample file in the Program Files\Microsoft Money directory? There are many different reports of this in the newsgroup. Most people try the repair tools on the file prior to the upgrade. Some have had luck with intermediate upgrades to, say, M01 or M02 first. Search the archives for the microsoft.public.money newsgroup at http://groups.google.com and you will find many threads with similar upgrade issues. | After installing Money 2004, it asks to convert files. Mine are from Money 99. It starts the conversion process and then stops and displays an error message. I've attached two jpgs of error msgs. Didn't find an error .log or .txt file in the program files or I would attach as well. I'm also unable to do a screen capture or text copy of this error file. I do have the option however of sending it to MS. Unfortunately, this process also crashes. I've had no problem previously with Money 99 but felt it time to upgrade. I'm not sure of how else to describe this to you. The program simply will not convert the Money 99 data file for use. I simply expect it to do what it said it would. In addition to this post, I've searched MS support sites for articles. Yet to find any referencing this issue. Should you or anyone know of one, point the way please. | Please tell us what constitutes "will not successfully [upgrade]" your file. What you did, what happened (error messages, et al.), what you were expecting instead, etc. I sound like a broken record on this subject today. Why isn't it obvious that you'd all need to provide this kind of information??? | I am trying to upgrade from Money 99 to Money 2004 Premium. I'm using a Win98/PII/384ram/8gb free. Retail version of Money 2004 Premium wil not successfully convert 99 ..mbf or .mny file after several attempts. Have tried upgrading over existing Money 99 and uninstalling Money 99 and installing Money 2004. Have also tried converting these 99 files through the free trial dl as well to no avail. After each uninstall attempt, all remaining registry entries are deleted, and remaining files and folders also. During each install, background programs are disabled. The program itself installs fine but is of little use without the years of data on our Money 99 file. The box says it's easy to upgrade from a previous version of Money...... Any ideas? tx Morgan |
