| many thanks, at least I know what the problem is. I have to say don't recall any dialogue boxes when I loaded the backup can only presume not paying full attention when I did it. Notwithstanding - the password thing is very lame - perhaps MS ran out of time. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > If you opened your old M2K data file with M03 and went ahead and upgraded > it, the dialog boxes told you about these issues in excruciating detail. | If you opened your old M2K data file with M03 and went ahead and upgraded it, the dialog boxes told you about these issues in excruciating detail. If you'd read them, you'd know that a Money file, once upgraded to M03, can't be opened again by M2K. The password thing is Money's lame way of telling you that an M03 file cannot be recognized by M2K. See http://www.bollar.org/msmoney/#Q84. Your choice now is to go back to M03 with everything else from Works2K (this is what I'd recommend) or go find the leftover M2K upgrade backup and put in all of the transactions since you upgraded to M03. But if you think migrating to Quicken is easier than reading dialog boxes, by all means here's the link for you: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...7&loc=105&sp=1 "KEVIN BARNES" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:00bd01c3bce8$20cebc80$a101280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Just bought new machine with Money 2003 loaded. | Just bought new machine with Money 2003 loaded. Restored backup files from MS 2000. Recently loaded my old MS Works 2000 because it had other programs on it. Since then a problem - so removed MS Money 2003 and 2000 and re loaded MS Money 2000. Tried to restore backup data - last saved with MS money 2003 but it now refuses to recognise password - which has remained the same for many years. Anyone have any ideas or is it time to use Quicken ?, because I am getting somewhat frustrated with the whole thing. |
