Default Currrency conversion

anybody knows how currency conversion works?. In my
portfolio, "avge cost" is allways converted to the base
currency, but not with the exchange rato off the original
transaction but with the actual exchange rate. This
causes "gain" to be wrong. It happens no matter what
options I select in the currency translation tab at the
portfolio manager options, or at perfom currency
conversion option on the "see a different view" menu
