Default Re: Refunds put onto Gift Cards

Don't use a credit card account. Setup a dummy cash account. This way the
amounts will show as a cash balance rather than a liability.

I use one cash account for "Rebates, Gift Cards, Etc." This way when I
purchase say a $50 item with a $20 rebate, I do a split transaction with $20
of it transferred over to the rebate account. That way I can clearly see the
total balance of all the gift cards and mail in rebates I am waiting to
claim.

Default Refunds put onto Gift Cards

HI Kathleen:

You might want to consider setting up a dummy cerdit card
account to track the use of gift cards, in-store credits
etc.

Just one suggestion.

Default Refunds put onto Gift Cards

I utilize my credit card statement as well as a bank
account statement to organize most of my purchases.
However, when I come to receiving an in-store gift card I
don't know how to adequately show on my budget sheet that
I have purchased these items because I haven't used "my
money" to pay for them that day. I don't feel I can
record them on my credit card statement or my bank account
statement to adequately show the difference. Can you
offer any suggestions? Thanks!
