| Don't use a credit card account. Setup a dummy cash account. This way the amounts will show as a cash balance rather than a liability. I use one cash account for "Rebates, Gift Cards, Etc." This way when I purchase say a $50 item with a $20 rebate, I do a split transaction with $20 of it transferred over to the rebate account. That way I can clearly see the total balance of all the gift cards and mail in rebates I am waiting to claim. -Jeff "James" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:071001c3bbaa$77ebea90$a101280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > HI Kathleen: > You might want to consider setting up a dummy cerdit card > account to track the use of gift cards, in-store credits > etc. > Just one suggestion. > James > > -----Original Message----- > > I utilize my credit card statement as well as a bank > > account statement to organize most of my purchases. > > However, when I come to receiving an in-store gift card > I > > don't know how to adequately show on my budget sheet > that > > I have purchased these items because I haven't used "my > > money" to pay for them that day. | HI Kathleen: You might want to consider setting up a dummy cerdit card account to track the use of gift cards, in-store credits etc. Just one suggestion. | I utilize my credit card statement as well as a bank account statement to organize most of my purchases. However, when I come to receiving an in-store gift card I don't know how to adequately show on my budget sheet that I have purchased these items because I haven't used "my money" to pay for them that day. I don't feel I can record them on my credit card statement or my bank account statement to adequately show the difference. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks! |
