I don't know what the referenced "C:\backup.mny" file is, but I have no backup.mny on my system. I would guess it was a copy of the money file under another name. - quote - > Sincerely > Charles > > -----Original Message----- > > I just upgraded from Money 2002 to 2003. | Hello, From what I have gathered on my money issues, is that the backup.mny is necessary to have alone with .mny I would suggest to use the find/search utility. Type in where to search or find the word backup.mny This should help you see where the file is located at on the hard drive...once found, see if you can move it back to the money program folder. Hopefully this will help, provided the backup.mny has not been deleted from hard drive. Hopefully you backed this file up as well. Sincerely Charles - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I just upgraded from Money 2002 to 2003. I backed up my .mny file on hard > disk and floppy beforehand. You should be able to find many messages on this topic if you run a Google> disk and floppy beforehand. When I try to restore the .mny file, I get > the message "Money cannot locate "C:\backup.mny" or cannot open it, > possibly because it is a read-only file or you do not have permission to > change it or your disk drive is write protected" Groups search. Anyway, one thought that comes to mind is that you could always restore from your floppy if that is current anyway. Have you tried that? -- Himanshu (remove XXX from my email address to reply) |

| I just upgraded from Money 2002 to 2003. I backed up my .mny file on hard disk and floppy beforehand. When I try to restore the .mny file, I get the message "Money cannot locate "C:\backup.mny" or cannot open it, possibly because it is a read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk drive is write protected" It is the correct file, in the correct location, not read only, I do have permission to change it, my drive is not write protected. I've moved it, renamed it, tried opening it from disk. Nothing. Is there an incompatibility problem between 2002 and 2003 versions? Thank you. |
