| These things can be a mystery that Money just doesn't intend us to understand. Karma and other strange paranormal phenomena can be involved. Who's to say? Try this. Go to the investment account and add a huge--bigger than all of the Sells--Buy transaction for the investment in question (this may take some doing to find out which investment is upsetting it) as the earliest transaction. Do your transaction edits. Then come back and remove the wedge buy. Do this in a copy of your data file, because you may have other issues going on. | I am using Money 2003 and am having problem editing a previously entered recurring paycheck sequence with an after-tax pension deduction. My original configuration had the after-tax deduction sent to a pension account which I manually set up as an expense category. Upon further review, I thought it be better to set it up a separate account (like a bank account) similar to my other bank/investment accounts. When I went to edit the paycheck split to reallocate that after-tax deduction to the newly formed pension account, it gave me an error message stating that "the share balance of (other account) would become negative at some point. Please arrange your transaction to avoid this." This "other account" is a 401K account where I send paycheck dollars to pre-tax. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. All I am changing is the account for post-tax allocation of a recurring paycheck, not the dollar value. There are no unallocated dollars. I do not see how this could alter a totally separate account where I send money to pre-tax. Thanks in advance. |
