I do appreciate the answer that was given to me - as it did help me get it done faster than one at a time...yuck, but Bruce has a point. Sometimes people just make mistakes and want to go back and look at things again. That's what I did... I had made a mess of myreconciliation of the last few months and couldn't tell what was right anymore so I went back and started over until I found my problem. Again...thanks though! |

I am not going to worry about that. Forgive my frustration, but your post kinda got under my You imply -- somewhat condescendingly, I though -- that if a human and a computer differ over whether a transaction ought to be marked as reconciled, the computer must be right. I'll agree that computers virtually never "err," but please remember what that means: they do only what the human programmers and users instruct them too. I wanted to change the status of a batch of transactions as well. After a data import, individual reconciled transactions that involved transfers between accounts appeared as multiple transactions in Money (one for each account), only one of which was marked as reconciled. A painfully easy thing to do, in theory. Ought to be the default, in my opinion, the ability to highlight and do a batch change on a simple fixed-length field across multiple records. But I guess Microsoft is protecting me from myself again. It won't even let me sort on that field. So I "put my head down and worked." (Computers shouldn't free people from repetitive, inane tasks, they should just create more opportunity for them!) After that, Money 2003 failed to finish the balancing process -- a bug noted in numerous posts for years, but for which I have not yet found an official Microsoft fix, patch, workaround or even comment. If I could do a batch status change, I'd try to "unreconcile" a month and try again. So there's a second reason to do what you didn't know why he would want to do. Oh, I've tried other things. For two days. I've searched the knowledge base, read posts, run SALV.EXE (level 1 and 2), gone back to the original data, re-imported a much smaller subset, run scandisk, rooted for Paul Allen's sports teams and replied to unhelpful, patronizing posts on message boards. Next will be a re-install, a shower, and another phone call to the lady interested in the numbers that a functioning Money will allow me to generate. After that, I'll dust off my green visor, ledger paper and coal stove, and "put my head down and work." |

| I would like to know if there is a way to unreconcile multiple rows in Microsoft Money? I can do one at a time, but I need to do a large number of them and don't want to do them one at a time. I've tried to contact Microsoft directly about this but got passed to the company that I bought my machine from, who passed me off to another support number in their company - which tried to charge me for asking this question. Any info on this would be great! Doug |
