| Have you tried restoring to a filename that doesn't exist yet? Maybe Money has the "My Money" file open that you are trying to restore to, and doesn't attempt to close it before restoring your file. Just a guess. - Ravi -------------------- - quote - > Thread-Topic: Backup files can't be restored
directions. My backup file appears on "A" drive and I select a "My Money" file to restore the backup to. I get a message that states that the "My Money" files exists and asks me if i want to> thread-index: AcO288gxtOuRqGu5Q+Sm5oyv6vA8Gg== > X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.money > From: =?Utf-8?B?SkFU?= <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> Subject: Backup files can't be restored > Date: Sat, 29 Nov 2003 19:41:05 -0800 > Lines: 1 > Message-ID: <9F88171E-CCF9-4804-847D-622162528BE8[at]microsoft.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 > Content-Type: text/plain; > charset="Utf-8" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000 > Content-Class: urn:content-classes:message > Importance: normal > Priority: normal > X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.3790.0 > Newsgroups: microsoft.public.money > NNTP-Posting-Host: tk2msftcmty1.phx.gbl 10.40.1.180 > Path: cpmsftngxa06.phx.gbl!cpmsftngxa10.phx.gbl > Xref: cpmsftngxa06.phx.gbl microsoft.public.money:142668 > X-Tomcat-NG: microsoft.public.money > This is similar problem to JZM posted 9/13/03. We have money 2000 standard edition. Our PC crashed and we had to restore original software that included money. We had been backing up regularly on floppy disk. I have tried and can not restore our backup file from this disk. The procedure seems straight forward, I click on "file", then "restore" and follow replace it, which I say "Yes". It then starts copying from my floppy and appears to proceeding correctly. I then get a message that states "Mony cannot locate "My Money" or cannot open it, possibily because it is a read-only file.......If you have chosen the correct file and it connot be accessed, you will need to open your most recent backup file. If the file is being used by another application, close it in the other application and try again." I've check that the backup file is not a read-only file, and the "My Money" file exists. I've also copied the backup file from the floppy directly to the c dirve and tried it that way. I don't know what the problem is and what to do. I've got almost 3 years of data and don't want to lose it. Please help. -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
