MS use Internet Update to issue fixes and updates so if you have to
re-install from the CD you then need to go on-line to get any updates.

Just to help out others:

I never use a Money password (used Money for 3+ years) and when I changed
my mother board, Money asked me for a password. I tried everything -
even going to the floppy backup. What finally worked was going to the
hard disk backup, on the hard drive. It's a .mbf file. Both floppy and
hd backups had the same date but one required a pw and one didn't.
Flakey.

After days of agony, finally I found out the problem source - Compaq &
Microsoft!

When I first got the Presario notebook recently, the PC was already
pre-installed with Money 2003. I was pretty impressed with the speech-guided
tour taking me through the setting up of accounts. But when I re-installed
Money 2003 which was bundled together by Compaq, I suspected something
amiss - no speech narration throughout the whole program!

I suspected this was due to the pre-installed version being a newer version
than the CD included, which has resulted in the password not being
recognised when I used the 'older' version of Money 2003. To verify this, I
downloaded the Money 2004 Deluxe Demo and bingo, I MANAGED TO ACCESS!!

The problem is, I checked with both Compaq & Microsoft technical support
teams but nobody seem to know anything - be it the cause of my password
being rejected, or that are there actually a Money 2003 version with
narration guidance!!!

NOW, my question is, are there actually different versions of Money 2003?

Default Password rejected!

Recently I re-installed WinXP, and also Money 2003 for that matter. Now I'm
unable to access my Money file with the following message whenever I key in
my last accepted password (before the re-installation):

"The password you entered was incorrect. Please try again. You may have made
a typing error or typed the password for a different file."

HELP!!!!!!
