I don't think I can help you, then. All I know is that I went through
everything with Windows XP, and, for me, the only fix that worked was to
reinstall XP. And the problem had to do with a non-Microsoft program that made
a registry change that bollixed things up.

But it's a lot easier to reinstall Windows XP than Windows 98SE.

Ron,
The MSKB article deals with HTML Help update (did that
too).

I should have mentioned that I am running Windows 98SE. I
keep all of my Microsoft software up-to-date, as well as
keeping the viruses, etc. out.

This has got me baffled--I am not a super expert, but
expert enough to have never had a problem like this go
unsolved/unfixed for more than 24 hours.

Since I do not often use Help in Money I cannot even
pinpoint or come close to guessing when Money's Help went
FUBAR--however I am sure it must be one of Microsoft's
wonderful patches to IE, Office, and/or Windows.

Eric,

I'm not sure what's in that MSKB article.

However, I had a similar problem with Money 2003.

The only fix for my problem was to reinstall Windows XP. This was an install
"in-place" and I did not lose anything, except for the numerous "critical
updates".

Since I had already installed Windows XP SP1, there were some other issues that
came up with this reinstallation that required editing the registry in order to
re-enable my dial-up internet capability. This was an issue that had to do
with the Remote Access Connection Manager.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the details on this.

I was able to trace the problem to an interaction with a program called SAM-CD
(and that program has since been fixed).

If this doesn't work, or if you've already done a reinstall of Windows XP, post
back.

Default Money Help -- "Unable to load topic. Click here to try again"

Whenever I try to use Money Help, no help information
appears beyond what is shown in the "Contents" or
the "Topics found:", when I click on a content item or a
topic found I get the message "Unable to load topic. CLick
here to try again" -- of course "try again" does not work.

I have searched the Knowledge Base and applied all
the "fixes" -- none work!

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and repaired Money--no
change.

Some of the Knowledge Base articles say to delete the
Temporary Internet Files -- did that, no change (why in
the world is Money relying on the Temporary Internet Files
anyway?) -- so I have even uninstalled, reinstalled, and
repaired Internet Explorer, no change.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!
