I replied in the same thread. However, I just discovered that if you're> thread > rather than generating all of these new threads. using a web-based newsreader, like the one provided by Microsoft, there is a bug that breaks out some threads into new topics. If you're using an NNTP newsreader (I'm using Windows Live Mail 2009), this doesn't happen. If anyone would like a more technical explanation, please let me know. Regards, Shane. |

There's another possibility? 2006; .qif would be similar: Start-> Settings-> ControlPanel-> FolderOptions-> FileTypes Select OFX-- Open Financial Exchange File . Click Advanced. Check Confirm Open After Download unless you would not like the pop-up box. See that the "Actions" box contains "Open" in bold. If it is not bold, you can select Open as the default action by clicking the Set Default button. Click Edit. When you click edit, the application used to perform action should be similar to the following line: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006\MNYCoreFiles\mnyimprt.exe" %1 WITH the quotes, and the %1 after the quote. The path will differ based on your installation. Modify for your setup. Application should be mnyimprt with the appropriate path. The easy way to fix this may be to reinstall Money. |

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do something that drastic. Most applications, in addition to having an uninstall feature, have a repair function, that let you fix your broken program instead of having to remove it and then reinstall it. I see that you can repair the *.mny file, but I didn't see an option to repair Money itself. I have one question before attempting a reinstall: I have two passport accounts, a hotmail.com account, which I am trying to move away from, and a new live.ca account. My hotmail.com is what I use with Money right now, but when I reinstall it, can I just go ahead and use my live.ca account? Since I'm in Canada, none of the banks are "online". I have to go to the banks web site to manually download the file. Thanks again, Shane. |

There is another possibility. |

The update route > from Money Standard 200x is Money Plus Deluxe. That's just the way it is. is Money Essentials. I thought that the newest version of Money would offer more features than 2006, so I downloaded the trial version. The FAQ said that you could run both versions at the same time as long you installed the trial in a separate directory. Well, Money Essentials doesn't allow you to import a *.mny file, and I didn't want to have to manually type in several years worth of transactions, so it seemed to be pretty worthless to me. I removed the trial, which create problems with my 2006 install. Shane. |

| M$ stopped selling Money Standard after 2006 and, at the same time, began selling Money Essentials. This has caused a lot of confusion. Money Standard was a basic functional Money Program without some of the frills that were in Deluxe; while Money Essentials is a totally stripped down (and in almost everyone's opinion, useless) program. The update route from Money Standard 200x is Money Plus Deluxe. That's just the way it is. -- Peace, BobJ "Bob Peel,MVP" <bob_peel[at]kiandra.freeserve.co.uk> wrote in message news 81A9E27-8720-4854-86FE-A7DE932117D1[at]microsoft.com...- quote - > Have you tried reinstalling M2006? > "Shane Goodman" <nospam-goodman[at]live.ca> wrote in message > news:6F16CADA-9A59-4708-A8D9-F3706075A22B[at]microsoft.com... > > Greetings, > > > I'm using Money 2006 Standard Edition, and I wanted to try the latest > > version of Money Essentials. | Greetings, I'm using Money 2006 Standard Edition, and I wanted to try the latest version of Money Essentials. The FAQ said there were no problems installing the trial alongside your existing installation because it installs into a separate directory. Well, my trial just expired, and now that I removed Money Essentials, I now have two problems: 1. Money 2006 no longer plays sounds. 2. When I click the "download" button at my bank's web site, the information no longer gets downloaded into Money. Instead I get a file download box with a filename ending in either *.ofx or *.qif. How do I repair my installation of Money? There is an option to repair the Money file (*.mny), but not an option to repair Money itself. Please help! Thanks, Shane. |
