Try installing to a different folder.

Default the windows installer service could not be accessed

I'm exasperated. In the middle of the night, my computer
(XP Home) rebooted. The event viewer tells me that there
were corrupt registry keys and that they were fixed from
an old back-up.

Now when I start up, my week-old copy of MS Money 2004
does not work. I tried to reinstall or delete it and I
get the "the windows installer service could not be
accessed" message.

The CD-based help file tells me to run INSTMIU or
INSTMIA. Both of these files get me a "Wrong OS or OS
Version for this application" error.

I went to the Microsoft site and did the step-by-step
resolution, I get nowhere...

Any help?
