| So, what you are saying is: 1) You moved a copy of a known good, known with data, M2K file to the M04 machine. 2) You opened this file, M04 recognized it as a back level file, made the upgrade version and left behind the .MN9 copy of the original file. 3) The resultant upgraded file shows "no data" which, from your description, I infer to mean accounts but no transactions. Does it show account details? Any added categories? Try this: take the .MN9 file back to the M2K machine. Rename it something like testfile.MNY. Double-click on it. Money2k should open it and it should look EXACTLY like your file looked on the M2K side when you started. <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:074901c3aefe$763c10c0$a101280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Sorry for the confusion. | Sorry for the confusion. I'll try again. The new file that I want, SAR.MNY file is present within M2K. I tried your suggestion...but the file has no data. There should be 2+years worth of checks, deposits, ect but it just shows $0 in the account...like I was setting it up for the first time when all I wanted to do was move what was on this desktop computer which was everything, to my laptop. I also tried backing up to a floppy disk of the money program on the desktop and used the restore the data to the new 2004 program. I did File/Restore/Restore from a backup file/a:SAR backup d1 and it goes through the motions but at the end the message says A;\sar backupd1. mbf is corrupted or is not a money backup file. So still without the important data I need inside the program. Thanks for your response. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > What your wrote doesn't make sense. | What your wrote doesn't make sense. You say moving the .MNY file worked fine but then you say it didn't work after all. Have you upgraded that file to an M04 file? Copy the M2K file you wrote to the CD onto the laptop's desktop. Double click on it. Follow the prompts for how to do the upgrade. When this is done and you exit Money, drag the newly created M04 .MNY file from your desktop to where you really want to keep it--somewhere in My Documents is recommended--then double click on it again. You should be set. | I have MS Money 2000 on a desktop and need to move the data from that program to my laptop which has MS Money 2004 Deluxe. I got the .mny file from the MS Money 2000 and burned it on CD to go in MS Money 2004 Deluxe. That worked fine now having a new file created by the new program. But I still don't have the data for checks, deposits, etc in the new 2004 program. Tried my backup floppys to restore the data from the old program to the new one but not having any luck extracting the data I need. Any help? Thanks in advance |
