| Thanks for your input. Sorry I have been lax in responding due to other issues. A couple of things. 1) My approach, and according to the reading I had done, was to create an "investment" (I was referring to this as an account) for each and every different account number I had at Vanguard. It is quite possible I have something messed up and will re-evaluate with more deatil. 2) I used to enter every transaction manually into a nice spreadsheet I had created. With Money coming on my new Dell, this seemed technically a better solution to doing anything manually again and hence moved forward with electronically downloading statements, saving me the time it took to do it manually (I know, this is taking more time). I prefer the electronic method, if I can get it to work. It is just easier. 3) If I delete an investment, somewhere int he program it still keeps the informaiton on the fund and it makes it difficult to re-create work you know is wrong. Anyone know where they keep this info and if it can be permenantly removed? Thanks for everyone's responses. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Sounds like a Vanguard data problem, not a Money problem. | Sounds like a Vanguard data problem, not a Money problem. Once again: manually entering transactions avoids problems with the lousy transaction data financial institutions provide. | I fear we will digress from your basic issue, but that's cool, too. I'll wait to hear you reasoning, but basically they intend you to make accounts match accounts and allow accounts to hold multiple investments. Most of us use it this way without problems. Maybe we are missing something? "bob bad" <rmebbad[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:06ea01c34cda$16031c70$a301280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Thanks first for responding. | Dick, Thanks first for responding. YOu and the other person are most likely right about terminology misunderstandings -- on my part. I do treat each fund in an investment account (like Vanguard) as a seperate account to store data. Maybe my mistake. I might try another post with more examples of my philosphy to see if I am way off base. Thanks again for your rapid response. -- Bob - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I was doing fine understanding your issue until you said "6 accounts (funds) > under these 4 portfolio's, only this one fund places its data in the wrong > place. | I seem to be stuck in Portfolio nightmare. I have created 4 seperate portfolio accounts as IRA Roth - B, IRA Roth - J, IRA - B and IRA - J. When I donwload the data from my mutual fund provider, one of 6 accounts wants to contnue to drop its data into IRA - B when in fact in should be dropping into IRA - J. Out of 6 accounts (funds) under these 4 portfolio's, only this one fund places its data in the wrong place. There must be a fund that has been deleted, stored somehwere with the wrong account information in it but I can't seem to figure out how to find old accounts/funds to get it removed. Any ideas on how to deal with Money portfolios? TH emanual does not go into this much detail that I can find -- it is quite basic. Money seems to like to hide details or deleted accounts even though they are in permanent storage somewhere. Hope someone can help. Thanks |
