Thanks Carl, I figured that piece out--I have been using brackets in my memo
section for years but didn't realize I could use it for a payee. Actually I
wound up with something similar to what you suggested, unfortunately, money
remains clever but autistic. I used {U of M Alum}AAUM so it would
alphabetize with under the U of M .... group (where I would look). Money
alphabetizes on the bracket putting it at the top of the list. Not
illogical, just useless. (Where is the money "suggestion box"?)

Thanks,
Steve

I believe that if you create payee "AAUM{U of MI Alum}", the braces
and the part within the braces will not print onto the check.

Do you think the Wolverines Alumni will really turn away your money if the
payee line isn't filled to their exact liking?

I work for a hardware store. The bank takes the checks if they're made out
to Durst Lumber, or ACE Hardware, or occassionally ACO Hardware, even though
we never have had any affiliation with ACO.

Default Payee on check different than "my" payee name

Hi, A lot of companies are requesting that checks be payable to "a bunch of
letters," that is not an acronym I will ever remember. The latest is *AAUM*
for the University of Michigan Alumni Association, which I have as U of M
Alumni Association." Since my payees that start with AA... are for Ann
Arbor this doesn't work well for me.

Assuming that I am wish to comply with their request, can I have a different
"print on check as" like in QuickBooks; or can I use the nice "payee
variation feature in money" in some creative way to achieve this effect. A
hack would be just fine. :-).

Thanks, Steve
