If you change the transaction for one account to a transfer before
you download and process the data for the other account, Money may
recognized that the download from the second account should match
with the transfer. If not, void the added other transaction. In
your case at this point, you will need to void the non-transfer
transaction in the other account.

Default How Do I Record Money Transfer Correctly?

Hi,

I just got Money 2004 and run into a small problem: Money
seems to be able to download transactions from bank
accounts flawlessly, but it does not recognize transfers.
Instead, transfers are recorded as withdraws and deposits,
and show up in the cash flow report as expenses and
incomes. I transferred 5K from a checking account to a
broker account this month. Now it tells me that I spent 5K
and made 5K.

To correct this situation, I tried to change the
transaction type to transfer. But when I changed the
withdrawal transaction to transfer on one account, a new
(transfer) transaction automatically appears on the other
account. Now the other account has 10K instead of 5K,
totally messing up the carefully balanced transactions. I
had to manually delete the deopsite transaction downloaded
automatically by Money. I am now just hoping that Money
will not try to download this very transaction again the
next time I connect to the Internet.

Does anybody have the same problem? How do you handle the
transfer problem in order not to mess up the cash flow
report?

Thanks,
Geoffrey
