| I used Kevin's fix and when I moved the unassigned transactions into the recreated subcategory and recreated the recurring bill,,,,,,,,everything is beautiful......with a bill. I've got the same problem with a deposit. Wages, deductions, the whole mess. If I delete a catagory like taxes:social security tax, how do I round the unassigned transactions up to reassign them? If I look in the catagory "Taxes" , I've got so many transactions, it would be impossible to pick out the ones that are social security. It sure seems like a way could be programmed to "reset" Bills and Deposits. | Well, after a few hours on the phone with tech support we figured out the problem. What happened was I created a budget in September, at that time I had a yearly scheduled bill in Dec for estimated 360.00 and the category was Insurance:Homeowner's. I don't remember specifics unfortunatly but for some reason I decided to delete that scheduled bill and create a new one with the correct amount. The way I did that caused a break in the reference. The scheduled bill was no longer in the Bills and Deposits list, which is correct but the budget planner still held a reference to it. We found this out buy right clicking on the Insurance:Homeowner's row and then selecting edit. This popped up a dialog box that showed 360 / Yearly, but if you clicked OK you wouldnt go anywere, normally it would take you to that scheduled bill. The fix was to delete the Insurance:Homeowner's category and not reassign transactions. After that I created a new Insurance:Homeowner's category and this removed the broken reference for the budget planner. Hope this helps. Kevin |

| Oh, and don't get me wrong and think I'm an all purpose apologist for the BP. I've long been on record about some of its shortcomings, in particular its bizarre assumption that everything that's scheduled is, by definition, in budget. I'm just thinking that, in this case, there may be a method to its madness. |

| I can't say definitively, but I keep reading these threads and wondering if this is by design along a line of thought like this: setup a budget and it's a static baseline in time. Change a bill going forward and, well, that static baseline in time is still just that--why should it change? Does the change mean you need to create a new budget? Then do so. If you still want to live to the old budget, well, your situation has changed and your actuals will reflect that. I think a lot of people mistake Budget Planner for Forecast Cash Flow. I think the Budget Planner is really there to help you manage your income and expenses to a PLAN called a Budget. This plan is not some kind of dynamic forecast, it's a line you've drawn in the sand (a baseline) saying how much you think you have as income and expense going forward. If you draw a map to get from here to there and find a need to detour along the way, the original map doesn't change. | I have the same problem with Money 2004. I have called the support line and the case is open but they couldnt find a reason why. I told them about this thread and they will get back to me in a few days. Christine, did deleting your budget work for you? I have tried that and still the deleted scheduled bill is showing up. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks, Kevin "Christine" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > I am having the same exact problem, but see that no one > has posted a reply. | In Money 2004, I have a category that used to have a scheduled bill. I've since changed the bill amount and category using the "bills" section. But the bill still shows up in the budget: old amount, old category. So my budget is skewed by exactly the amount of this old bill. Trouble is, I can't find the old bill anywhere else to delete it. If I edit the category in the budget, money doesn't show the monthly charge. If I go to bills, this old bill doesn't show up, so there's nothing to delete. Puzzled and frustrated. Anyone see this before and have a fix? |
