| Thanks for the responses. It's pretty much what I figured, although, like I said, I was rather surprised when my quick test seemed to work ok. Still, given what we're dealing with here, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'll work out a system, probably with batch files and flags, so that my wife and I aren't ever able to open the Money file at the same time. Peter |

| Peter, I use Money across a home network. You need to be careful in that only one person is opening the file at any given time. It works great for me. | Money is still a single user application. It is not designed to be used simultaneously by two users. It may appear to work but you do stand the risk of file corruption. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money Hints/Tips http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny UK Wishes/Suggestions mnyukwsh[at]microsoft.com "Peter Raymond" <google-groups.5.flick[at]xoxy.net> wrote in message news:930c179b.0310272012.316b5f1e[at]posting.google.com... - quote - > Is MS Money 2005 now "network aware"? | Is MS Money 2005 now "network aware"? In other words, can I set up a money file so that two users can access it across a home network without worrying about whether or not the other user is already in the file, thus causing corruption? I did a quick test which would suggest yes, but I want to triple check. Here's what I did: 1. Copied my money file to a safe location 2. Opened it on one computer (A) 3. Walked to another computer (B), opened it there as well 4. Opened A to Home page. 5. Opened B to Home page, then went to downloaded statements and accepted some transaction. 6. Opened A to downloaded statements, observed that B's changes were there. 7. Accepted another transaction on A. 8. Went to B, verified that it showed the modification on A. 9. Closed B. 10. Went to A, verified changes were still there. 11. Closed A. 12. Opened it from A. No error messages anywhere. Still, being nervous I deleted it and restored the copy I had made. Anyone have any definitive answers on this? Thanks! |
