Customize the Account Transactions report and also the Investment
Transactions report. You would need them both. Date range is one of
the factors.

If you are going do QIF export+import, here are some considerations:

To avoid transfers from turning into two separate transactions, it
is important to import the QIFs into the new file all at once.
This is done by selecting using Ctrl+<click> to highlight all of
the files you want including. Further, before doing the import,
the names of the investment cash accounts should be named something
alphanumerically higher than the investment transactions of the
account. So you could have "Merrill" and "Merrill Cash", but you
would not want "Merrill Inv" and "Merrill Cash". "_Merrill Inv"
and "Merrill Cash" would be good. So one way around this is to
export investment accounts to files who's name starts with an
underscore.

I cannot imagine that re-entering would be easer, unless you had
very few transactions.

I should ask, to make life a little easier, is there a way to print out
transactions from all accounts for a certain time period? A n00b question I
know.

My bad... I'm using Money 2000. I don't think this should change anything.

I think it can read the file, nothing goes "wrong" when I load it up. I
only get the error when I try and add a new transaction.

I just played around with the importing, and it looks like it will take just
as much work to fix everything as it will for me to re-enter items. I only
lost about 4 months of data from my last backup.

I appreciate your help a lot.

Thanks,

John

Is your Money 99 install still working? If so, don't give up yet, by
any means. QIF export+import is a LOT better that re-entering. Just
a few techniques to take note of.

But even that is probably not needed. If your Money 99 is still able
to read your Money 99 file, there is very probably something that
will get a normal conversion. Describe your situation more.

Such as what do you do that does not succeed, and what error
messages do you get.

I've also tried that.

I think I'm just going to have to re-enter everything.

Thanks.

OK. Next I would try making a copy of your Money file under a
different name and then opening that file by double-clicking it in
Windows Explorer.

Hi, thank you for the assistance. However, the options
you had suggested did not work.

Here are a few ideas that should be worth a try.

Try copying the current .mny file to a different name. Then open the
copy.

Try closing all browser windows.

Follow the steps in
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310560 for
selective startup or clean boot. Then see if you can operate on your
file.

Default Cannot Save to Money Database File

Hello everyone, everytime I try to make a change to my
money database file, it tells me that it's in use by
another application. I have a feeling that it may be
corrupt, however the my backup is about 6 months old. As
a result, I don't want to loose what's in it. Two
questions:

Can I fix the current problem? Maybe upgrading to a new
money version (I'm currently using 1999)?
Can I load my old copy, and then export the changes from
the current database?

Thank you,

John Pasula
