Default Payment for credit card

You can process a credit card payment is one of two ways:

enter your check for the payment in the checking account
and then in the category field, select credit card
payment OR transfer from the list of categories. You
will then be prompted to select the credit card account
you want the money transferred to. Select you credit card
account and the money will post as a credit to the credit
card account.

Change that transaction's category to Credit Card Payment (or
Transfer), and make the subcategory be the credit card account.

Default Payment for credit card

I'm a new user. I just entered a credit card payment in
the check register (withdrawal), but it does not post to
the credit card account--the account is still showing my
original balance entered at account set-up.

What did I do wrong?!
