I could swear I told the spell checker to fix contributions.

See http://www.bollar.com/msmoney/#Q14 for some insight that might help. You
don't say whether these purchases are coming from your money or your
employers. If yours, you should be making a transfer to the 401K cash
account ("(contributiutions)") from the Before Tax tab of each of your
paychecks, then the investment purchases can be made directly from the cash
account.

Default automatic offsetting double-entries for new stock purchases in 401K

When I enter new buys of stock purchases made thru my
company 401K program, also entered is an offsetting equal
amount in an account named "(contributions)" which I did
not set up. The net result is that the new total of the
overall account does not change in the progeam even though
I have made new purchases.

What am I doing wrong?

Please help.
