| Great! The tip off that made me think you were headed for reinstall was when you said multiple backups exhibited the same behavior. That's why the next question was the sample file. | Thanks for the faq link...that's very useful in general. The solution was to repair/reinstall money and after that money could read any of my files. Come to think of it, the last time I used money and it worked was before a my recent install of a bunch of xp updates so I wonder if something there could have corrupted money? Regardless, it works so I'm happy. Brad "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mindspring.com> wrote in message news:%23nd9Y8BSDHA.1552[at]TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... - quote - > Answers in order: Maybe. | I opened up my Money2002 std today and received the following message: ================================================== === Money has detected that you did not close the file "Active" before exiting. Money now needs to verify the information in you file. If you file is large, the may take a few minutes. Do you want to do this now? If you click No, you'll need to open a different Money file. ================================================== === I responded Yes and the repair begins but shortly an error is generated...which I dutifully select to send to Microsoft. After try this a few times I selected No to the above and select to restore one of my backups....I have been very good about creating regular backup files. But.....even when I select a backup file I get the same above error message....and I've tried all my backup files going back over a month. It seems the ONLY option I have that does not cause the error is to create a new file. Am I screwed??? Are all my files lost, including all my backups? Is there a way around this, a patch or other?? Should I try reinstalling money? Brad |
