Sorry, Sharon. I am not familiar with Norton since I don't use it for virus
detection. Maybe someone else reading your post can help. One solution
would be to us your ISP's web mail option to filter it before it reaches
Outlook. Then, the virus would never reach your hard drive. Just a
thought. George

George,
I do the same thing with my Outlook. For every one of
these e-mails I get, I click organize and create a rule
that any e-mails from this person is to go to the junk
folder. Do you know if there is a way to tell Norton not
to notify me each time there is a virus e-mail that it has
detected? For every one of these e-mails, I get a Norton
alert. I wish it would just repair the file without
notifying me. I have looked everywhere for that option.

Don,

I have the same problem. They probably got my email address the same way
they got yours via NG postings.

My email was becoming useless also and I had to do something. I don't know
if you have filtering capabilities. Most ISP's or software (i.e. Outlook
Express) provides some sort of filtering. I took the drastic measure of
filtering all my incoming email to a Suspect Email folder if the sender is
not in my address book. It is not perfect but works pretty well. Once a
day, and sometimes more often, I check the Suspect Email folder to see if
there are any "non-spam" or "real" messages there. If there are messages for
new contacts (for example, I've ordered some product from an new internet
site and they send me a confirmation of the order) I select that message and
the software I use sends it to my inbox and puts the sender in
my address book so the next time they communicate with me it will go through
to my inbox automatically. There is a good chance the software or ISP you
are using will provide this same capability. It is not perfect but better
than not using email at all.

It is not just this newsgroup. The spammers have software that scans all the
newsgroups and pull out anything that looks like an email address.

The best solution is to "munge" or alter your email address so that it won't
be valid and hence wont receive mail. If you look back in the postings you
can see what others have done. Use CTRL + F3 to expand an email address.

The reason that an email address is needed to post is so that scams, abuse,
obscenity and all the other abuses of posting can be tracked.

Default Virus e-mails

I posted a Question Oct 4 at 11:45 PM "Balanced or Mixed
Asset Funds" Sence then my e-mail address has received
hundreds of virus carrying e-mails every day some
purported to be from Microsoft or Postmaster, etc. My
virus S/W deleted them and I don't run .exe e-mail
attachments. My e-mail is overloaded and useless.

Only the e-mail given to this newsgroup is effected.

Why are our e-mail addresses included in the post? To
whom should I report this?
